Eldrum: Red Tide Burning City guide
The prologue of the game has some exciting encounters that may affect the rest of the game in some way - but there's a time limit, so a player can only do so much each run!
I won't detail the full consequences of each encounter, as some are just a pure joy to discover for yourself. Instead, I'll help you understand the system behind it.
Each new location or major encounter may take up 1 time slot, and a player has 9 slots. If an encounter takes a slot, then depending on your actions - you could gain some exp, a good item or a special encounter might be waiting later!
Remember - you can happily visit previously visited areas without worry. Each "map" encounter (discovered while travelling) usually takes a slot.
Choices that take up time are:
- Waiting an hour - Militia Soldier: 2 slots, 3 if you save her.
Crown Junction
- Marvin the Deserter (always takes 1 slot!)
- Going to the Western Docks
- Going to Hydran Bridge is free until you fight
- Going to the Northern Docks
- Customs House - removing the debris
Riverfront
- Look for survivors. Ignoring them will let you travel home for free.
- Searching every nook and cranny
- Escorting the refugees (1 slot if you fight the first soldiers, otherwise 2 slots)
City Gates
- Pickpocket (unavoidable!)
- Stand guard
Slums
- Save the trampled civilian
- Delve deeper
- Searching the slums
Ocean Shrine
- Scavengers (always takes a slot!)
- Filling the amphora
- Waiting for water to boil
- Saving the monk
- Catapult encounter
The time limit will kick in when changing locations at 9/9 or greater, so you might fail to report for duty on your last slot - but it's possible to end in a location like the slums and use 10-11 slots instead of 9. Enjoy!
